Not only are these speaker pods made with 20% - 25% thicker plastic but they also feature a 1" lip. This 1" lip is needed for a weather/ airtight seal for better sound. Also this lip allows for a more secure install for inverted overhead applications. With our pods you are able to screw and caulk to prevent the speaker from falling onto your head. Aftermarket speakers typically have a heavy magnet and when installed upside down if only secured by 4 screws the vibrations from riding off-road or in rough seas stresses and weakens the plastic causing the pod and speaker to fall. We offer two different sized pods. Both allow for the addition of new 6x9 inch speakers or the relocation of existing 6x9 inch speakers without having to spend a fortune on a custom install.
