Hon Tre Island Ranger Training Camp Hon Tre Island, located off the coast of Nha Trang in Khanh Hoa Province, was chosen as the site for a U.S. Ranger Training Camp (75th Infantry) due to its strategic location and challenging terrain, ideal for rigorous military training. The camp was established to train South Vietnamese Rangers (ARVN), Cambodian Shock Troops, US Rangers and other special forces in advanced combat tactics, jungle warfare, and counterinsurgency operations.
