You are bidding on about 50 common Teasel plant seeds ( Dipsacus sylvestris ) . Do not confuse these with thistle . ( I'm also selling these as live plants during the summer , see my other items for sale ) Extremely easy to grow they even self seed . Common teasel is a native of Europe, it is mostly seen along roadsides and fence rows and is great as a dried flower .These dried seed stalks are sold in stores . Description---It is a biennial, with a tall, rigid, prickly, furrowed stem, generally attaining the height of 4 or 8+ feet, bearing cylindrical 3" flower-heads, globular when young, but lengthening out to a conelike shape when in full flower. Each flower blooms from the top to the bottom as the days go by, and each plant can have 20 + flowers .The whole plant is very harsh and prickly to the touch. The plant in the picture is only one plant . For you bird lovers , American Goldfinch love these seeds . Medicinal use of Teasel: Traditionally it has been used to treat conditions such as warts, fistulae (abnormal passages opening through the skin) and cancerous sores. The root is diaphoretic, diuretic and stomachic. An infusion is said to strengthen the stomach, create an appetite, remove obstructions of the liver and treat jaundice. The root is harvested in early autumn and dried for later use. An infusion of the leaves has been used as a wash to treat acne. The plant has a folk history of use in the treatment of cancer, an ointment made from the roots is used to treat warts, wens and whitlows. A homeopathic remedy is made from the flowering plant. It is used in the treatment of skin diseases. Other uses of Teasel: A blue dye obtained from the dried plant is an indigo substitute. It is water soluble.
