Description: 24" Steiner Figure C Bébé "Le Petit Parisien" Edition - c.1889 Straight Wrists / Closed Mouth / Paperweight EyesAntique Costume with Signed Shoes Original Antique Doll - Made in France [ FEATURES AND DETAILS... ] This is a fabulous French Steiner bébé, with head incised "Figure C No. 6 / J. Steiner Bté. SGDG / Paris." She is on her original straight-wrist Steiner body, which is clearly stamped "Le Petit Parisien / Bébé Steiner / Médaille d'Or / Paris 1889."This little lady is fired and painted with the best quality 19th-century French craftsmanship. She has a closed mouth with delicately outlined lips, accents at the corners of they eyes and the nostrils, multi-stroke eyebrows, and the wispiest of painted eyelashes around the riveting blue paperweight eyes in her notched bisque Steiner socket head with pierced ears. She is wearing a light auburn-brown mohair wig on a (replaced) cardboard pate. Her pink antique silk dress is accented with a generous amount of supple lace, and the cutest little basket emblem -- with her initial "W" -- near the neckline. It has a huge and beautiful mother-of-pearl belt/sash buckle and coordinating buttons. She also has a cotton slip and bloomers. She is wearing antique brown leather button-strap shoes in size 7 with little bows, and the soles are signed "J. Jne.," and antique socks, of course. To finish off her outfit, she is wearing a dainty floral headband and carrying the cutest little metal purse-shaped compact, with a little pad and makeup mirror inside. Altogether a superb and stunning example of this scarce 1889 Steiner edition! [ CONDITION... ] - Beautiful antique condition -- from a non-smoking environment.- No issues found with the bisque after careful examination.- If you look closely at her right eye (on your left), there is a bit of space at the bottom. It is not a damaged eye. That is just the way the glass eye is shaped from the factory, and it's set in such a way that you can see that bit of space under it. (You could, of course, insert a bit of plaster or other appropriate filler so the space is no longer noticeable.) - Notice that someone felt it necessary to trace the incised "C" in "Figure C" at the back of her head with a pen. - Her original Steiner 1889 body has average age wear to the surface, joints, etc. IMPORTANT: Besides the noteworthy issues mentioned above, EXPECT any antique doll (bisque/composition/leather/china/wood) to ALSO have: (1) SIGNS OF AGE - for example: toned/crazed/chipped composition, minor wig pulls, loss of "hair" lashes on bisque heads, not-so-tight stringing, etc., and ... (2) MINOR CONSERVATION WORK by previous owners/collectors - for example: reset eyes (in most cases!), repairs to wig, repairs to clothing, touch-ups on composition/finish/paint, etc. SO ... Any MAJOR issues -- hairline crack, total repaint, etc. -- would be itemized above, but these normal age/conservation details are not. They are to be expected. Thank you.PLEASE SUPERSIZE ALL PHOTOS, AND ASK ALL QUESTIONS BEFORE BIDDING/BUYING. I'LL BE GLAD TO ANSWER. [ RETURN POLICY ON DOLL LOTS... ]It is with deep regret that -- after 14 years selling on eBay, and with 100% positive feedback -- I've had to change my return policy on dolls to "NO RETURNS, AND NO PARTIAL REFUNDS."As often happens, it's the few bad apples out there who ruin it for the rest of us. These dishonest people will buy a doll, then try to improve or restore it ... not knowing what they're doing. And then, when they realize they've ruined the doll, they return it saying it was defective. Or else they keep the doll and demand a "partial refund" based on the alleged defect -- which is another trending scam on eBay.I sell these dolls for a living so, my sincere apologies to you -- the honest majority of eBay buyers -- that I can no longer afford to accept doll returns. (Of course, shipping loss or damage is a different matter; that is fully covered by insurance.)BUT HAVING SAID ALL THAT ...I do bend over backwards, attempting to disclose any noteworthy condition issues I can find or think of. But these are antique and vintage dolls -- so, please understand that they won't be in brand-new condition. There will always be some minor indication of their age, and it would be impossible to itemize every single pinhead-size stain on the outfit, or hairline scratch on the body. Please expect these types of conditions with old dolls. [Blurb required by eBay for cell phone users:] *** PLEASE VIEW THE FULL DESCRIPTION BEFORE BIDDING. IT CONTAINS VERY IMPORTANT INFORMATION.
