Doing this will allow water to enter the seeds so they can sprout. Then place the seeds in a glass of water untill you see germination. Check around online for more detailed articles about growing these. If you don't get around to sprouting the seeds right away, don't worry, the seeds can stay viable to grow for more than 1000 years!
