Description: We offer these 2 Christmas cards printed by & from Frank H. Teagle, Jr.,(1914-1997), well known small press printer and collector of miniature books and ephemera. They date from 1937 & 1938. Born in Chicago in 1914 he worked at the printing press of Frank Berry and Horace Carr. Served in WW2 in a topographic map unit, one of his projects being the Normandy invasion plans. Later he had the Elm Street Press in Woodstock, VT until 1972. A charismatic figure, he traveled extensively in the 1930's. The photo of Kinchinjunga in the Himalayas, the world's 3rd highest mountain, is by the Darjeeling, India photographer Thakus Das Pradhan. A very charismatic figure, he traveled extensively in the 1930's, the period of these holiday cards. The photograph of Kinchinjunga (Kanchenjunga) in the Himalayas, the world's 3rd highest mountain, is by the Darjeeling, India photographer Thakus Das Pradhan. An account of Frank's travels is found in the book, A Collection of Letters by Frank H. Teagle to a Group of His Friends, privately printed in 1938. In 1977 he was elected to membership in the American Antiquarian Society (Worcester, Massachusetts) to which he donated much of his printing library. The blue card is on medium weight card stock measuring 4-5/8 x 6-1/4 inches (approx 11.5 x 16 cm ). The photo measures 2-1/4 x 5-1/2 inches ( approx. 5.7 x 14 cm) (signed "Das Studio"). Lower right corner crease. The card dated 1938, with a Cleveland address, measures 6-1/2 x 4-3/4 inches (16.2 x 12 cm).
