Description: Terra SF II The Years Best European SF Selected and Edited by Richard D. Nolane Cover by Oliviero Berni DAW Books First Edition Description: Mass market paperback book published by DAW Books in 1983. The copyright page states 'First Printing, July 1983' and the printing status bar is complete, making this a first printing. (the online bibliography lists this as the only printing). Terra SF II is signed by Poul Anderson on page 101 at the end of his 3 page introduction to a story by Francis Carsac without inscription or personalization. Most of the translations were done by Joe F. Randolph. From the Back Cover (Terra SF II): "The most contemporary selection to date of European science fiction, with outstanding stories..." Such was the comment of Fantasy and Science Fiction on the first volume of Terra SF. "This book should start a trend," was the opinion of The Twilight Zone magazine, while the Library Journal simply said, "Excellent". Now again Richard D. Nolane, himself an SF writer and science fiction authority, brings you the latest selection of the best of Western European science fiction writing. Here in this volume is represented surprisingly imaginative concepts from France, Germany, Denmark, Belgium, Holland, Norway, Italy, Spain, and even Finland. The names of the authors may be unfamiliar to the English-speaking world but they are the greats of the Old World. Terra SF II rounds out the DAW anthologies of the best. We believe that you deserve to know exactly what you will be getting if you buy our item. We describe each item carefully. If the condition description doesn't mention a remainder mark or ex-library markings, they do not exist. No hidden reserve on auction items. If you bid our starting price and are the only bidder, the item is yours. See our other auction and store items for lots of autographed first edition and collectable books. We specialize in Science Fiction and Fantasy but also have general fiction, mystery and nonfiction. We usually have over 400 autographed Easton Press books available for purchase. Buyers taking more than 48 hours to pay without that agreement will not receive feedback. Note:Paying with a PayPal echeck (bank or other financial institution transfer) will delay shipping until PayPal informs us that the transfer has completed. This can take 4 or 5 days for US banks (occasionally longer) and up to 2 weeks for international (usually more like 11 days). Payment by PayPal funds or credit card gets immediate shipping. Shipping and Packing: General Information: We always ship in sturdy new boxes with premium heavy duty packing tape, bubblewrap and filler to keep the item away from the sides of the box, unless requested otherwise. Click on the 'Shipping and payments' tab near the top of this item to see the options and costs for shipping this item to your location. The different shipping options we use are described below. If the item will be shipped to a California address, please see the note below on Sales Tax. Combined Shipping: We are happy to combine shipping on multiple items and will charge you only a small amount over the actual postage cost to pay for packaging materials. Please do not ask us to do otherwise. Take any customs duty that you will have to pay into consideration before making your purchase. Please note that many countries have restrictions on the import of certain goods and sometimes on the maximum value that can be shipped to the country by various shipping methods. Priority Mail International insurance cannot be purchased for all countries and some limit the amount of insurance that can be purchased (default indemnity coverage seems to apply to all countries). Details on shipping conditions by country can be found on the United States Post Office web site. Shipping History: We have shipped well over 6,000 packages (containing more than 10,000 items), with more than 1000 of those packages going to international destinations, since we started selling in 2002. We have not had a report of a book damaged in transit since shortly after we started selling (it took us a couple of damaged shipments to learn how to package books properly to be sure they wouldn't get damaged). In the first years, our exprience was that the post office would lose a package about every one to two years. Then the post office put better tracking measures in place and it has been well over 10 years since a customer has reported a lost shipment (packages do still occasionally get sorted incorrectly, delaying delivery but that is fairly rare). Sales Tax Beginning January 1, 2019, eBay will start collecting sales tax on items being purchased for shipment to states that have passed legislation requiring that sales tax be collected on items being sold for shipment to their state. This is being done by eBay, I have no control over it. At the present time, I will still be responsible for collecting California Sales tax on items shipped to a California address. Unless you are a reseller with a valid California Seller's Permit buying this item to resell, we are required by California law to collect sales tax for all items shipped to or delivered to addresses in California or picked up from our location. The checkout system cannot handle the complexities of sales tax in California where the sales tax rate varies by where the item is being delivered. We have setup the shipping calculator to charge sales tax at 9.00% for those who do not want to wait for us to invoice you. If you wait for our invoice, we will adjust the sales tax to be correct for the location you say we will be shipping to. California resellers need to provide us with your permit number before we can remove the sales tax from your invoice.
