France issued this type from 1995 until this last type in 1999. Obsolete, today France uses Euros. The note pictures Alexandre Gustave Eiffel, a French civil engineer. He built various bridges for the French railway network, most notably the Garabit Viaduct pictured on the note. He is best known for the world-famous Eiffel Tower, designed by his company and built for the 1889 "Exposition Universelle" in Paris, and for his contribution to building the Statue of Liberty in New York. Face: C 094124546 • Brown and pink on multicolor underprint. • Garabit Viaduct and Gustave Eiffel, who is in the watermark also. Back: C 094124546 • 1999 • The "Exposition Universelle" from under the Eiffel Tower. The Note: A circulated but still crispy specimen, it has no edge or body tears but it does have two small pinholes. The note will be sent in a new large currency holder that protects it.
