1979 Dixie Military Surplus Discount Catalog (As-Is)

Description: 1979 Dixie Military Surplus Discount Catalog (As-Is) Description Up for sale is a vintage Dixie Military Surplus Discount Catalog from 1979. This catalog had been lying in a drawer for the past unknown number of years (or decades, I should say) and belonged to a family member who is no longer with us; so for all intents and purposes, this listing is part of an ongoing online estate sale of sorts. The catalog exhibits some signs of wear on it brought on by overall age and general storage; which appears mostly in the form of spotting and/or yellowing throughout the pages and the cover of the catalog (which I really can't tell anymore was supposed to be light green or blue at one point). There also seems to be a slight fold mark on the cover; even though the cover page itself has pretty much straightened out over the years, there's still a little bump in this spot which is located right next to the D in Dixie and goes all the way down to the boot depicted on the lower left side of the front cover. The rear cover appears to have a staple mark on it, but I really can't say for sure why. Perhaps something was stapled to the rear cover only? I have no idea. The rest of it simply bears the hallmarks of just about any catalog from this vintage (i.e. page creases, light scuff marks, etc.) There is also a post marked 20 cent stamp on the rear cover as well... which features George C Marshall with the titles of Statesman and Solider surrounding a picture of him on the stamp. The post mark is dated August 22nd, 1979 which is really my only proof for determining just how old this catalog really is. Aside from this, there's also a bit of wear and tear happening on the surface of the rear cover; as there was a spot originally reserved on there for a shipping/recipient label at one point and that label was intentionally taken off for the purpose of the sale; for the purpose of anonymity and what have you. The area surrounding this spot appears a bit lighter and a bit worn; as the print on the inside cover is now showing due to this adhesive being stripped off and whatnot. The catalog; which is basically a thick booklet measures approximately 5 & 9/16" wide by 8 & 5/8" tall. The pages tend to stick out a little further than the cover; measuring at about 5 & 11/16" wide, give or take. Even though the catalog is still in pretty good shape, the pages themselves may appear to be a bit truncated as a result of a possible miscut or slight misplacement of the catalogs pages when it came time to print it up; for you can clearly see that most of the pages on the left have descriptions underneath the individual catalog items virtually sinking into the staple at the center of the catalog at times... almost as if they were disappearing along a vertical horizon or something. Anyways, aside from these minor cosmetic blemishes, I figure this catalog has the makings of a great collectible for anybody that's into vintage military related catalogs and/or stamp collecting for that matter; so please be sure to get in on this deal while it still lasts, for my loss is your gain as they say in the trade.
