1965 Plymouth Valiant Signet

Description: I purchased this vehicle on June 18, 2008 in Port Angeles, Washington (as a daily driver). I drove it from Port Angeles to La Paz, BCS, Mexico where it has been stored until October 2024 when it was driven back to California for sale. According to the fender tag, she was produced in April of 1965 with few options. Equipement per tag: 273 V-8 automatic w/center console shifter, convertible white top (now torn in one place), body in light blue, medium blue metallic upper door panels, and blue premium bucket seats; heater with defroster and a manual driver's side mirror, retractable seat belts front/rear. No power top, no power brakes, no power steering, no radio. Miraculously, both tail lights are in good shape. Why is the bumper jack always missing? Previous owner must have installed a radio at one time (only evidence are aftermarket dual radio antennas bases). Looking at the 7 1/4 inch ring and pinion differential, it is marked "1974" from a newer model. In the glove compartment we find a six month guarantee for work previously performed on the Torqueflite automatic transmission (which shifts just fine). The steering wheel is aftermarket. The vehicle does sport wheel moulding on three locations (one missing) and baby moon hubcaps with trim rings (in trunk). Rust is evident in all the usual places for this particular model and age (floor pans, bottom of fenders, doors, quarter panel, front cowl).Driveshaft has been updated to slip spline from the factory ball and trunion. Previous owner did extensive front end suspension rebuild. Previous re-paint did not address the rust issues properly. I am selling it because after having restored a 1965 Barracuda Formula S and a 1972 Plymouth Satellite Sebring Plus I can no longer afford to perform a third restoration. My first car was a 1965 Valiant four-door I purchased for $125.00 in 1973 and which I rebuilt at Hartnell College Auto Technology class the same year. I used the four-door Valiant back then as a bracket drag racer (installed a four-speed) and then in 1980 I sold it to the famous Renteria Brothers who continued to race it for 20 more years (look up Renteria Brothers on YouTube for videos). I know every nut and bolt on a 1965 Plymouth Valiant (I also attended Body & Fender classes at Community College and painted a 1963 Pontiac Grand Prix I had purchased for $100.00 back then).
