1940 Africa Squeaks Looney Tunes Spencer Tracey Anim Cel Signed Leon Schlesinger

Description: SELLING UNUSUAL AND RARE ITEMS ON EBAY FOR 25 YEARS-QUALITY, NOT QUANTITY! - A rare animation cel done from the 1940 cartoon short, "Africa Squeaks", one of the Looney Tunes series, starring Porky Pig. The cartoon is a parody of the movie "Stanley and Livingstone" starring Spencer Tracy and Cedric Hardwicke which came out the year before. This cel is larger than some of the older ones, 11 3/4 inches x 8 3/4 inches. The image of Stanley is 5 inches high. There is a small streak to the left of Stanley, of unknown origin, but appears to something that could be easily removed, if wanted. There are a couple small bubbles in the cel material on the top border. There is plenty of blank space to trim this off, if wanted. The inscription on the cel reads- This is an original painting I used in "Looney Tunes" and "Merrie Melodies - "copyright" Leon Schlesinger. The cel still has the original hardboard backing on it. It had, apparently been in a wooden frame for many years, with no glass over it. As an unusual "back story" , we were told by a relative, that the original owner knew a studio executive where Africa Squeeks was produced. Supposedly, the executive had related to the original buyer that this particular cel was one of a kind. This particular image of the cartoon was selected because another executive [ maybe Leon Schlesinger?] had a "beef" with the famous actor, Spencer Tracy. This cel image was supposedly made to make the cartoon Tracy [Stanley] appear somewhat feminine & incompetent. When you watch the whole cartoon short, it appears to support this. We have never seen one of these particular cels for sale anywhere. Selling as is. Can send more photos on request.
