The piece reads, "In his majesties name you are hereby required to summon and give notice to Robert Parks of Voluntown in (to) county that he appear before the County Court to be (returned) at Windham by adjournment and for the county on the last Tuesday of this (month) then and ? unto John Sprague of Lebanon in County and Joseph Backus of Norwich in the County of Newtown in an action or plea of Debt due by a bond under the hand and seal of the Defendant for the sum of fifty-six pounds (current money) which bond has date February 7th A.D. 1723 and is conditioned for the payment of twenty-eight pounds to the Sprague and Backus, their heirs on or before the date of the fifteenth day of October next insuing the date of Bond. The nonpayment of which is to the damage of the plaintiff as they pay the sum aforesaid or shall then Dated in Windham February 26th 1726 Joshua Ripley justice of the peace."
